Follow the garment label first
The care label on the garment takes priority because fabric, dye, trim and print methods vary. Read it before the first wash and keep a photo of the instructions if the printed label may fade. If supplier care information conflicts with the sewn label, pause and request clarification.
Prepare sportswear before washing
Empty pockets, close hook-and-loop fasteners and turn printed jerseys inside out. Separating rough equipment and garments with exposed fasteners reduces abrasion. Wash strongly coloured new items separately until colourfastness is understood.
Treat visible dirt promptly using a method allowed by the care label. Avoid aggressive scrubbing across crests, sponsor marks, names, numbers or heat-applied decoration.
Use a gentle wash routine
Choose the water temperature and cycle stated on the label. A mild detergent and lower-friction cycle are generally easier on printed sportswear than harsh treatment. Do not add bleach, softener or stain chemicals unless the garment instructions allow them.
- Turn decorated garments inside out.
- Keep zips and abrasive fasteners away from lightweight jerseys.
- Use the stated temperature and cycle rather than guessing.
- Remove garments promptly after the cycle to reduce creasing and trapped odour.
Dry without stressing prints or shape
Use the drying method shown on the label. When air drying is permitted, reshape the garment and place it where air can circulate. Avoid placing printed areas against intense direct heat. Do not iron names, numbers, crests or sponsor marks unless the care instructions explicitly allow it.
Store sports clothing clean and dry
Allow clothing to dry fully before folding or hanging it. Keep it away from damp kit, direct heat and sharp equipment. Fold personalized prints without a hard crease through the decoration, and give heavily structured garments enough space to retain their shape.
